A thriller needs unanswered questions, but the writing itself should remain clear.
During my latest edits, I looked closely at every scene that felt mysterious. Was the character missing important information, or had I simply failed to explain what was happening?
I have chosen to make the actions clear without immediately explaining why people behave as they do.
The reader should understand what happens in a scene. The mystery comes from the reasons behind it and from the information that is still missing.
That difference sounds small, but it has changed many pages of the manuscript.
